What Can You Do With Plastic Snakes?
Plastic snakes are pretty cool, if only because they can be made to look so life-like. But, to the majority of people, they’re creepy too, just like the real thing. A lot of people don’t like snakes at all. Some absolutely HATE snakes and would do just about anything to avoid them. Others, oddly enough, like them so much they keep them as pets. There are two extremes, as with most things.
Plastic replicas of snakes are becoming more life-like looking all the time. Sometimes they’re used to play a practical joke on an unsuspecting victim and their realistic looks can be very convincing. It’s kind of mean to put a fake snake on the floor of Mom’s shower, but what kid hasn’t done something like that at least once?
There’s a handy tip in the Farmer’s Almanac regarding the use of fake snakes. They recommend placing several around your garden to discourage uninvited guests visiting your vegetable patch. A realistic looking snake will scare away rats, rabbits and mice just like a real snake will. They don’t know the difference, but you’ll see a real difference in your plants’ well-being.
You can also benefit from using toy snakes in other places where you may be having varmint problems, like the patio or the greenhouse. Or the swimming pool. Just let Mom know you’ve put the pretend snake there. You don’t want to shock her again.
Plastic snakes are becoming popular for use in a totally unrelated area, too… Plumbing. The similarity of the two kinds of snakes is in name only. In the old days, drain snakes were made out of metal. They were heavy and cumbersome and always seemed to rust after one use, but they worked pretty well to unclog the clog.
But now, with the advent of much stronger and more durable plastics, they’re being made not only better but more efficient as well. Some of the more popular plastic drain cleaning snakes attach to a water source, so you’re not just ’snaking’ the drain but blasting it with a jet stream of water at the same time. Some models even have rotating side jets and a flusher jet up front to blow everything down the line and scour the entire pipe. That’s a big improvement over the ‘old days ways’.
Water-powered drain cleaners work great and can save a lot of hassles. They can also save you money because, as you may know, plumbers aren’t cheap. You can easily keep your own drains clean and prevent them from clogging. That way, you won’t have to call in the expensive professional to ‘bail you out’.
Now you know what’s what about plastic snakes and their varied uses. Use them to scare Mom, or to scare away the critters from the garden or to unclog your drains and traps. Let your conscience be your guide on the first one, though. Paybacks can be harsh!
plastic snakes Thermometers should be used to monitor the inside temperature. The Eastern box turtle is also a popular choice for people to have as pets. Do not experiment with flamethrowers just to get this right!
