San Diego Travelers Guide
San Diego is one of many popular tourist destinations, partly due to the fact that the weather tends to be mild most of the year, making it easy to enjoy the outdoors. It makes a great destination for those who live in the north and want to get away from the winter weather.
Unlike cities in many areas of the country, San Diego doesn’t have to deal with a lot of extreme weather conditions. The weather tends to be pleasant and stay similar throughout the year. You don’t need to worry about hurricanes, tornadoes, or even lots of rain and humidity.
For those who want a low key and relaxing vacation, there are a lot of beaches that can be visited for anything from surfing to sun bathing. Visiting the beach is a popular activity for natives of the city and visitors alike.
Water activities play a large part in the San Diego lifestyle. Besides surfing, you can also go whale watching, take a harbor cruise, kayak, or sail. You can visit the Maritime Museum in order to learn more about the history of the port and the naval base that is located here.
Those who are more interested in finding out about ocean life can visit Sea World, where you can watch performances by a wide variety of animals, including seals, Orca whales, and dolphins, and check out the exhibits featuring many other interesting sea creatures.
The San Diego Zoo also makes it possible to see lots of different animals, including pandas. All the animals have habitats that were created to be as close to their natural habitats as possible.
Animals can also be viewed in more of a safari setting at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, which is affiliated with the zoo.
The water and animal attractions aren’t all there is to see in San Diego. There are also popular neighborhoods such as Balboa Park, where you can get a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants or visit a museum. You can also sit in a park and people watch or meet up with friends and family.
Those who have children will probably want to take the time to stop at Legoland and Belmont Park since the kids will really enjoy the attractions there.
History buffs might like to eat in Old Town, where buildings have been preserved to make it possible to see what historic San Diego was like. Other great options for dining are available in the Gaslamp District, which is the major shopping and entertainment area in the center of the city.
Those who like to play golf can check out one of the many different golf courses in the city. People who prefer to watch sports rather than play them can check out a Padres or a Chargers game.
