Costa Rica is growing in population in today’s tourist market. With its diverse landscape from the beaches to the Cloud Forest Mountains it allows you to experience both mountainous landscapes as well as the coast. Costa Rica has two coastlines, the pacific side and the Caribbean side.

With the diverse landscape comes an unpredictable weather change. If you are traveling to Costa Rica during the rainy season, be prepared. Pack accordingly and check with your hotel to see what they suggest you bring for the time you are planning on visiting. Always expect the unexpected when traveling to Costa Rica during the rainy season, which is usually between October and mid November.

Many people choose to start the vacation in the tropical rainforest of Monteverde. There you will see white faced monkeys, two and three toed sloths and many species of birds. Then you can head to the active Arenal volcano or Manuel Antonio beach where more wildlife awaits you. With so many activities available, it is best to do your research before you book your trip.

In addition to the volcano, Arenal also has some amazing hot springs. There are wildlife refuges throughout the country that are a must for your trip to Costa Rica so put that on your list if there is time. You will meet amazing people along your journey and will always enjoy the company of the local people whose warm hospitality and friendly nature will welcome you at every stop.

Finally I would suggest that if you want to get the real feel for what this amazing country has to offer, travel on your own. While there are many companies who offer “all inclusive” vacation packages, it is much more enjoyable to have the flexibility to travel at your own pace. Large tour companies has strict schedules and do not allow optimum time in each destination to really capture a great experience.
