All you need to do to be a better athlete in the sport you love is learn how to jump higher.

Our bodies are able to adapt to their surroundings. This is why working out is so effective. If you start lifting weight that the body isn’t use to it will grow and become stronger so that it can lift that weight easier. The exact same thing happens with jump training. The body will adapt and create more fast twitch so that it can jump higher than it currently does.

Fast twitch muscles react much quicker than slow twitch but they also don’t perform for as long. White muscle is the endurance muscle and that’s what marathon runners have in their bodies.

A sprinter needs a lot of power but not for very long. So they train to get as much red muscle as possible and as little white muscle as they can.

You might think you want all you muscles to be fast twitch but then what about standing all day or sitting up straight? The lower back will have a lot of endurance muscle.

So now you are probably wondering how to get more fast twitch muscle. You type of training directly corresponds to the muscle you will create.

If you train in short burst with a lot of power you will be training your body to create more fast twitch muscles. While if you train doing long steady workouts you will get endurance muscles.

There are exercises designed to make more fast twitch muscle that are called plyometrics. They will focus on fast movements to trigger red muscle production.

Plyometrics need to have a lot of jumping exercises involved and they should be low reps with very high intensity to have the desired results. Doing a quick search in google for jumping exercises will bring up some great sites that will be able to help you out in your desire to jump higher like a beach volleyball player. So stop dreaming and get out there and train to jump higher.
