Nobody would argue with the notion that the University of Georgia Bulldogs football program has had a continuing impact on the game of college football. With an impressive record of wins and losses - nearly two wins for every game they have lost in the last century-plus of football, the Bulldogs occupy a place among the sport’s best. From their position in the SEC, the Bulldogs have enjoyed many winning seasons, though recent years have not been among their best. Still, they are routinely ranked in the football polls, and always provide formidable competition for their opponents. Many of the great players in football history have won the Bulldogs’ uniform and played in their Athens, Georgia stadium - one of the largest stadiums of its kind in the world - in front of the more than ninety thousand fans that regularly fill it to capacity. One memorable Georgia player in recent decades was the Heisman Award winner of 1982 - Herschel Walker.

And, in case you happen to be a Chicago Cubs fan, then the going gets really difficult. Having a ticket to any of the high intensified games by the famed Chicago Cubs is just as equivalent to conquering the moon, with no spaceship.

Though it enjoyed solid fan support and was popular among sports betting enthusiasts, arena football fell off the map with the demise of the Arena Football League. The AFL suspended play under the weight of a poor business model in 2009 and later pulled the plug altogether. Since then, a new league has announced plans to take its place. Arena Football One (AF1 for short) will begin play in April and on Thursday secured a TV contract to broadcast games on the NFL Network in the United States. The TV deal should help the new arena football entrant to get off to a successful start as they attempt to revive the sport. Obviously, the long term goal is a higher profile outlet but this deal is a start.

The US mainstream sports media likes to proclaim certain athletes as good or bad ‘role models’, but they’re almost single minded in their obsession with winning. Great NBA players like John Stockton, or NFL players like Dan Marino are criticized for never having won ‘the big one’.

The Louisiana State University is proud to be represented by the LSU Baseball Team in several competitions and tournaments. Since 1893, the LSU Baseball Team, or LSU, has represented the prestigious university in the NCCA Division I College Baseball League. Aside from this, LSU is also an active member of the West Division of the Southeastern Conference.
